It’s day 27 of my Picture A Day Weight Loss Journey and tonight my husband and I celebrated our anniversary. We were blessed with child care and were able to go on a date night to a lovely french bistro.
I had dinner bread with butter, caesar salad with parmesan cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, steak with red wine glaze, a Shirley Temple, creme brûlée, and went WAY over my calorie budget for the day.
But do you know that I love most about the life I’m living now? It’s not marked by a rigid set of rules for diet or exercise. I do what I can, when I can, how I can, and because I can. I am in control now. I am not at the mercy of my body or moods or debilitating mindsets. I make the food and exercise choices that are best for me and I am all the more motivated because of it.
Today was a what some call a cheat day. I got to eat decadent food and enjoy sweet time alone with my husband.
Is this going to “kill my diet?” NO! Because I’m not on a diet! I’m on a weight loss journey that centers on healthy changes that are for KEEPS!
So, yes, today I went over my calorie budget, but it was SO worth it, and I am even more motivated than ever to pick up where I left off tomorrow.
I’m no longer at the mercy of rigid standards which, if broken, are so discouraging that the only recourse it to quit.
I’m a free woman and I’m loving it!
