It’s day 40 of my picture a day weight loss journey and today I was reminded of the importance of caring for my spirit as well as my body.
I was blessed to be able to spend time with the most amazing young woman, Mia. We ate lunch together and shared our testimonies. In talking with her I was reminded that God faithfully lavishes His goodness on us in more ways than we even realize. His love is so perfect and so full that, as we look back on our lives, we can see how completely it has marked us in countless ways. Any goodness in us, any kindness, or patience, or love, or faithfulness – these are all gifts from the Lord. We cannot (and don’t want to) claim any of these things as accomplishments of our own because we know that they have been supernaturally gifted to us by our great God.
How humbling is that?
After spending time with Mia, I came home feeling encouraged, refreshed, built up, and sharpened – the best gifts a believer can give to a sister or brother in Christ.
And I wanted to apply that to this incredible journey I’m on.
It’s not enough just to tend to my body, just to bring it under submission and make it a slave to my will (rather than the other way around). It is all the more important to do the same to my spirit, my mind, my heart – because from those things flow everything else about me, the tangible and the intangible.
What good is it for me to beautify my body if I allow my spirit to remain in the mire?
So, thank you, Mia, for just being you! Thank you for blessing my heart, convicting my soul, and challenging my mind. You are a gift from God and I praise Him for you!
And for those of you who are on a similar journey, may God continue to bless and grow your spirit as you endeavor to please and honor Him in all your ways!
Until Next Time My Friends,
