It’s day 49 of my picture a day weight loss journey and it’s also Super Bowl Sunday.
Today I ate soooooooooooooo many treats! Chips and dip, coffee cake, pizza…oh lawd, I haven’t eaten junk food in a LOOOONNNGGG time.
I was tempted to feel really discouraged by the treat day I gave myself until I realized one thing:
I’m no longer going to think of days like today as “cheat days” or “off plan” days. From now on they are just days.
This is the freedom that comes with knowing I’m making life changes not diet choices. I love being healthy and I know how to do it well. Allowing myself a day to celebrate or indulge or enjoy the same foods as the people around me is not a distraction or a disappointment – it’s part of my journey, and I’m okay with that.
I will obviously make sure I have more self-disciplined days than indulgent ones, but, from now on, they are all pieces to the same puzzle and I’m going to enjoy them equally because they meet different needs.
Balance is the name of the game now. Balance and joy!
